Zoho One alternative for a one-person software business
Zoho One bundles dozens of business apps under one licence. For a company with many roles it is great value. For a solo developer it can be a lot of software to learn. How to choose, and what an alternative should cover.

Zoho One is an impressive bundle. One licence gives a business access to a large suite of apps: CRM, invoicing, accounting, help desk, projects, email, forms and much more. For a growing company with sales, finance, support and operations roles, that breadth is the point.
If you are one developer, though, breadth can work against you. More apps means more setup, more places to look, and more features you will never use.
What Zoho One offers
- A very wide suite. Zoho's pricing page describes its Standard edition as more than 50 integrated business apps and services, and its Essentials edition as more than 15.
- Per-employee licensing. Zoho offers All Employee pricing, which requires a licence for every employee on the payroll, and Flexible User pricing, where you buy licences for the number of users you need. Prices vary by country and billing period, so check Zoho's pricing page for your region.
- Deep business features. Accounting, inventory, HR and marketing tools go far beyond what most small teams need.
If you only need invoicing, Zoho also offers Zoho Invoice on its own. Its pricing page describes it as free, with limits such as up to two users, 500 invoices a year and three projects at the time of writing.
Where it fits a solo developer less well
- It is many apps, not one. Each Zoho app is its own product with its own interface, joined by integrations. That is powerful, but you still move between apps to follow one client.
- It is not built around code. Your repositories and coding agents live outside it, so the work itself is in a different place from the client.
- Setup time. Getting value from a large suite takes configuration. For a solo developer, every hour of setup is an hour not shipping.
What a solo developer actually needs
Most one-person software businesses need the same short list:
- Code and tasks: where the work happens, ideally with coding agents.
- CRM: contacts, companies, deals and a timeline per client.
- Invoices: quotes, invoices, recurring invoices, payment links, plus time and expenses.
- Support: one inbox tied to client records.
- Revenue: invoices, subscriptions and app store sales in one view.
- Servers: errors and uptime, linked to support.
If a tool covers those six well and shares one set of records across them, you rarely need anything else. Our guide to running a software business on your own explains why each one matters.

When Zoho One is the better choice
Choose Zoho One if you need accounting, payroll or inventory alongside your CRM, if you are hiring into several roles, or if you want one vendor for a whole company's software. It is a lot of software for the price.
When to choose something smaller
Choose something smaller if your business is you, your code and your clients. You want the CRM, invoices and support to sit beside the code, and you want to be up and running in an afternoon.
That is the case NabuOne is built for. It is one desktop app where Code, Tasks, CRM, Invoices, Support, Revenue and Servers share the same client records, and your coding agents run on the AI accounts you already pay for. Contacts, companies and invoices import from CSV, which Zoho exports. See pricing for the current plans.
The short version
Zoho One is excellent value for a company that needs many business apps. A solo developer usually needs six things done well in one place, with the code at the centre. Pick the shape that matches your business, not the longest feature list. If you are also comparing CRMs, see HubSpot alternatives for solo developers.
